Emergency Procedures

This topic comes up from time to time.  Of course, we hope that members will check into our regular weekly net and participate in activities (this is how you get most of the information needed during emergencies).

All members should have a hardcopy of the Region 3 Member Handbook.  You will need to use the reference material in this handbook for repeater information, net procedures and referential information.

Procedures:

Leadership has a calling tree that we will try to use depending on several issues (timing, resource availability, etc.).

Members should check into the active net throughout region 3.  Our resource net can be on any of our repeaters listed in our member handbook.

Check into this net and Net Control will let you know where you may be needed (several questions may be asked like operating modes, portability, etc.).

If you are asked to operate somewhere other than home, please check into the net when you depart and let net control know when you have arrived at your destination (we don’t want to lose you along the way!).

This is a very brief overview.  As stated above, the best way to understand the procedures is by being active in a few public service events, training exercises and quarterly meetings.  All of this training will provide you with the necessary information in times of emergency.
