4.18-4.19.09, Middletown Safe Haven Exercise/Drill

All, the following information is coming from Leo in Middletown.  They need a few more hams to volunteer for this event.  If you are able, send him an email  and let him know you’re available.

DEC Region 3 ARES

The drill is called Middletown Safe Haven Exercise — Date – Friday April 17,2009 – Starting Friday time of 5:00pm to SatuardayApril 18 ,2009 9:00am.

1. Demonstrate the ability of Middletown Offfice of Emergency Management , Health Dept., American Red Cross to open and manage the Shelter.

2.Demonstrate capability of shelter personnel to triage persons, who may have medical or special needs.

3.Demonstrate ability of the Unified Command to monitor and maintain communication for more than sixteen (16) hours and simulate three days of exercise.

The Ham Radio Operators will be stationed at Command Center an High School — also at Middlesex Hospital + Shoreline Clinic + Marlborough Clinic.
At this time I could use 2 men at Middlesex = The hospital portion of trhe drill will go from Friday 5:00pm to 11:00pm only. This will be a huge exercise for the East Coast and the Ham Operators are very proud to be asked to join in this exercise .
